Online conference “Shared leadership in education”

Ensuring the process and quality of education, administrative duties, student safety, community engagement, financial management, innovations… there‘s a wide range of responsibilities that school leaders carry on their shoulders every day. Effective leaders recognise their limitations and build strong teams. However, only a small number of countries systematically develop school leaders’ capacities to share responsibilities and empower other members of the community.
The Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO is organising an online conference “Shared Leadership in Education” on 12–13 May that will explore both global trends and the national context, challenges, and good practices. It will take place over two afternoons (14:00–16:30 EEST) on the Zoom platform.
During the event, the 2024/2025 Global Education Monitoring Report “Leadership in Education” will be presented, which examines the features of effective leadership and the external factors that shape it, as well as the 2026 report “Lead with Youth”, focusing on mechanisms that enable youth participation and the extent of their implementation.
Following an overview of global trends, the discussion will turn to the situation in Lithuania, addressing challenges of leadership in times of uncertainty, the impact of master’s programmes for school leaders, mentoring and networking opportunities, youth inclusion in decision-making, and other relevant topics.
The target audiences of this conference are school leaders, representatives of municipal education departments, universities, and education policymakers in Lithuania; however, the event is open to all.
The event is free of charge but registration is required: https://unesco.zoomtv.lt/registracija/
The main language of the event is Lithuanian, but simultaneous interpretation into English will be provided.
